Villa Palma was built as a family house, and it still works best that way. Sucuraj is small enough that children find their feet quickly, and the sea is close enough that a swim never needs a plan.
Beaches that suit small children
Two of the local beaches are made for this. Cesminica has a sandy shallow bottom and a gentle entry, 10 to 15 minutes on foot from the village. Bilina, five minutes from the house, has rock pools along the edge where children look for crabs and small fish for hours.
Mlaska Bay, four kilometres away, has sand, a shallow bottom, parking and a beachside restaurant. That combination makes it the easiest place to spend a whole day with children.
What we provide
You do not need to bring everything with you. Included for every stay:
- A cot and a high chair, free of charge.
- Beach gear, including snorkelling equipment.
- Two bicycles for guests to use.
- A welcome hamper on arrival, with everyday essentials.
Tell us the ages of your children when you book and we will have the right things ready.
Space at the house
Both apartments have two double bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen, which matters more with children than any hotel service does. You can cook when they are hungry rather than when the restaurant opens.
The estate is 1000 square metres of olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees, with a shaded patio and a barbecue. Children run around in it while the adults sit still, which is roughly the correct arrangement.
Getting around
The village is walkable. Shops, the harbour, the post office and the beaches are all within a few minutes, and there is very little traffic. Older children can be given a bit of freedom here that would be unthinkable in a bigger resort town.
Beyond the village, more than 40 kilometres of walking and cycling paths run through the olive groves and along the coast.
A day on the water
Boat hire can be arranged for 125 euros a day, fuel included. No licence is needed, and a skipper can be arranged at extra cost. For children, a morning of swimming off the boat in a bay with nobody else in it tends to be the memory that survives the holiday.
Practical things
The village has a doctor and a post office, along with a small supermarket and one Studenac. There is no bank, but there is an ATM and an exchange office. And there is no petrol station, so fill up before you cross on the ferry.
The family lives on the property all year and welcomes guests on arrival. If you need something, he is a knock away.
