Sucuraj is on the eastern tip of Hvar, which makes it the easiest part of the island to reach from the mainland. The crossing from Drvenik takes 30 minutes. Once you know the route, the journey is simple, and we are ready to welcome you at the house.
The ferry from Drvenik
Jadrolinija runs the car ferry between Drvenik and Sucuraj. The crossing takes about 30 minutes. In winter the route runs 6 times a day, and in summer 10 to 11 times a day.
Timetables change with the season, so check the current one on the Jadrolinija website before you travel. In July and August, arrive at the Drvenik ramp early if you are bringing a car, because the queue builds before the busiest departures.
Driving from Split
From Split, drive south along the coast to Drvenik. The motorway takes you most of the way, and the last stretch runs along the Makarska Riviera. Allow around 90 minutes for the drive, plus the wait and the crossing.
One practical note: there is no petrol station in Sucuraj. Fill up before you board, in Makarska or Drvenik.
Coming by bus
Buses run from Split to Drvenik and connect with ferry times. This works well if you are not hiring a car, because the village is small enough to walk and we keep two bicycles for guests.

Flying into Split
Split Airport is the closest airport. From there you can hire a car, take a bus, or ask us to arrange a private transfer. We work with a licensed local driver who collects guests from the airport. Prices depend on the season, so ask us for a quote when you book.
Overnight ferries from Italy
If you are travelling from Italy, overnight ferries run from Ancona and Bari to Split and Dubrovnik. From Split you continue by road to Drvenik as above. This suits families who would rather sleep through the long leg of the journey.
Arriving in Sucuraj
Villa Palma is five minutes from the ferry port. Francesca, Tom or our assistant Ana will welcome you at the house, so there is nothing to search for after a long day of travelling.
Parking is in front of the property. Check-in is from 3 pm and check-out is by 10 am, and we are flexible whenever the bookings allow. If you arrive early and want to swim first, we will mind your luggage while the apartment is prepared.
If the ferry is delayed
It happens, usually in bad weather or at the height of the season. It is not a problem. Send us a message when you know your new crossing, and we will adjust. Nobody is left standing at the port.
